Department of Turkish Language and Literature

The Department of Turkish Language and Literature, which has a four-years education programme, was founded in 1995. In 1996 graduate programme and in 1997 undergraduate programme started to admit students. In 2001, the first students graduated from the department. Students have been admitted to second education undergradute programme since 2000 and to Phd programme since 2006.

The aim of Turkish Language and Literature is to educate students and researchers as people who are capable of  analysing the structure and development of Turkish language; are well-informed about periods, literary figures,  literary works, features of Turkish Literature and Turkish Culture; are familiar with universal culture, have creative thought and a discipline in research methods and able to create solutions for problems.

The mission of Turkish Language and Literature is to analyse and criticize written and oral literary works from past to now, to share the gathered information with the academic circles, to establish new relationships with different cultures and to have an active role in this, to  educate its scholars as competent people in the field of Turkish Language and Literature.

The vision of Turkish Language and Literature is to produce new scientific knowledge, to be pioneer in social and cultural activities, to train students who are preferred on a national and international level, and to be department that researches, thinks, questions and  provides the necessary knowledge for academic circle.

Admission Requirements

Students who get the required verbal base score from the central university placement test condcuted by Student Selection and Placement Center are accepted to the program.There are no other spesific admission requirements other than the general ones.

Graduation Requirements

So as to be granted a Bachelor's Degree in Turkish Language, candidates are required to complete the courses offered by the program successfully, fulfill 240 ECTS credits requirement with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2,00 out of 4,00.
